London Fashion Week has made its mark on the public. Running for over 30 years, London Fashion Week provides a platform for designers, from all over the world, to reveal what they have been working on. The LFW returns each year, always better than before, by presenting something unique, contrasting heavily to prior events.

The LFW has been here since the 80s. However, it’s beginning wasn’t as glorious as you would expect it to be. This article provides a brief history of the London Fashion Week, and how it has changed over the years.

The early years

In 1983, a non-profit trade group called the British Fashion Council emerged. It is this council that decided to initiate the London Fashion Week, to promote British designs inside and outside the country. The London fashion week started a year after the British fashion council was made. The event found its very first venue to be a car park in West London. The public was gathered in tents to view the first-ever London Fashion Week.

A group of 25 designers graced the event with their beautiful collections, and there were only 15 presentations in total. The event was not a huge hit; however, it managed to leave an impact on the British government. The government began to realize the prospects of the event, and decided to fund it.

It wasn’t only the British government, but also other famous people, such as Princess Diana, and Queen Elizabeth II, who showed their interest in the event. So, while the beginning of the event wasn’t huge, it wasn’t insignificant either.

What changed everything?

The journey to the top has not been easy for London Fashion Week. However, with all the efforts put into the event, they have come out on top. London Fashion Week is the youngest of the four major fashion weeks of the world. So, naturally, it had to compete with what was already there. But, the constant efforts of the organization made their success possible; inevitable, some would say!

Now, the event has an established venue that is The Store X on the Strand in London. As the venue changed, the event was able to invite more and more designers. Thus, in 2020, there were a total of 250 designers who presented their collection to the public. On the other hand, the event was also proof of how far the event has come, as there were a total of 72 catwalk shoes. That was not all; sales from the event generated over 100,000 euros.

The information provided by the Betway Online casino survey, tells us that the event has been much anticipated in 2021. While the pandemic slowed down everything, the LFW is said to ensure its return in February. The organizers have kept in mind the pandemic restrictions, so the tickets’ sale has been moved online. In addition to that, the event will also be live-streamed on platforms to avoid gathering a crowd. Virtual showrooms have also been made to accommodate the sale of the collections, which will be showcased.

In conclusion, London Fashion Week is not going to back down, and it’s here to stay forever.
