Standing Out-Talking to Public School designers Dao Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne about the success of their label and recent CFDA menswear designers of the year nomination, The Washington Post connected with the buzz-worthy duo. A favorite of Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, Chow and Osborne were present at this year’s Met Gala, where they had an incredible experience. They recall seeing fellow designer Thom Browne. “We totally groupied out on him,” Osborne shares. “We were like, we want to take a picture with you!” If the last couple of seasons are any indication, it won’t be long before new designers have the same reaction to them. Until then, the design duo are all about perfecting their vision for Public School. Chow explains, “If you’ve ever gone to public school, you know — it’s a lot of kids fighting for very little space. To stand out, you have to separate yourself and be authentic, original. Those were things we wanted to embody in our collection.” Read more at WashingtonPost.com.
