first day of casting for the masatomo ss10 show to be held in paris next sunday…brief is 18 models including 7 black ones; mainly new faces, young and fresh, with style, attitude and strong personality…

though a big part of the guys are still in milan, lots of them are back in paris or just didn’t go to italy and the line in the hotel’s corridor is growing as starting time is approaching…all of the main agencies in town have of course been informed (bananas, ford, major, mgm, nathalie, new madison, studio, success) since they usually provide the best choice, but also some ‘minor’ ones (angels, idole, karin) because you never know!

the casting is being held in a big room where the collection is already set on racks in the right order for the show, where in 5 days the masatomo team will be preparing everything for the big day: rynshu (the designer), sachiko watanabe (stylist and co-ordinator), mr hayashi (the ‘alteration magician’), yohko (the discrete designer’s wife and ‘adviser’), nakamura-san (sales manager), michiko (paris shop manager and translator) and myself…

it’s time to start: first one please…
one at the time the models are invited to enter the place to first show rynshu and i their book; then we ask them to walk and eventually, when corresponding to the designer’s vision, to try something on…fresh new face roman ivancic @ ford just came by and seems to fill all requirements and expectations–calling his agency and getting 1st option 🙂 that’s a good start…each look has been sketched by the designer and all of them are lined on the floor, ready to be matched with the card of the selected (or pre-selected) model…

  1. Mikelle said it before but I’d really like to insist: it would be really interesting to know how you got into this – I am really curious about that. Many thanks for this article!
