City Scope–Netherlands-based label Avelon finds an opportunity for understated luxury with their fall/winter 2012 collection. Inspired by a sales trip to New York City, designer Erik Frenken found motivating references in brick buildings, skyscrapers, business attire and the Big Apple’s stylish pulse. Executing this mindset, denim, trousers and knitwear prove to be the collection’s go-to staples. Playing with fit, trousers are furnished in both narrow and wide silhouettes, contrasting against the line’s fitted knitwear. Accented with geometric shapes, shirts are a complement to outerwear, constructed in a fashion that fittingly reads as power.
