On the subject of the millennial market, there’s no doubt that Versace has youth in mind when it comes to its Versus collection. Upon the release of its spring-summer 2018 lineup, the brand notes that “the soul of Versus Versace is youth, sexiness, defiance and most importantly, fun.” Donatella Versace elaborates on the point. She explains, “Versus is about individuality, bravery and pleasure. This is for everyone who dares to express themselves in everything they do.” Looking to American culture for a starting point this season, Versus finds itself in 90’s New York. Here, tailoring is offset with a campy splash of personality. Touches of fluorescent colors collide with plaid, mesh, chain graphics, and color blocking. Meanwhile, silhouettes take on an androgynous leaning.
