Changing Guard-Removing color from the conscious and opting for a black & white show, Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci took his brave men in a new direction for the fall/winter 2013 season. Touching upon religious undertones from the previous season but evolving, the new Givenchy man took up armor for a combative season ahead. Accented with photographs taken by Robert Mapplethorpe, the latest lineup maintained a certain strictness. Shoes were topped with silver plates, skirts replaced by jackets tied at the waist, the field jacket reinterpreted as a leather shirt and countless interpretations of classic menswear essentials represented as armor. Altogether decisive and sleek, Tisci’s fall painted a subdued picture where the details reigned as king.
