Jordan Barrett
Jordan Barrett is an Australian model from Byron Bay whose international breakthrough came after moving to New York in 2015. His blond hair and sculpted features made him a prominent face of the decade’s fashion campaigns, while his interest in photography developed into work on the other side of the camera.
In a 2015 interview with The Daily Front Row, Jordan recalled being approached by an IMG scout in a grocery store at fourteen. Still in his school uniform, he initially mistook the scout for security. His mother later found the business card and contacted the agency. He described an upbringing shaped by the water, including canoeing from his house to school. By the time of the interview, he had recently arrived in New York and closed a Moschino show in London.
His advertising career soon included a spring-summer 2017 campaign for Versace Jeans, alongside a fragrance contract for Paco Rabanne’s 1 Million. Speaking to British Vogue in 2018, Jordan singled out the fragrance booking and his first Tom Ford campaign as personal milestones. He also described a working life frequently spent in mixed casts or solo shoots, with women’s fashion weeks forming an important part of his runway experience.
Photography gave him another way to participate in image-making. In the same interview, he explained that portraits of friends posted to Instagram had led PAPER to commission him to photograph Emily Ratajkowski for a cover. The work grew from a personal practice into an editorial assignment, expanding his role beyond being the person photographed.
His later modeling work includes Balmain’s spring-summer 2022 campaign and Calvin Klein’s Pride 2023 advertising. As his career developed, he also began speaking more openly about its demands. In a 2026 conversation on Mental As Anyone with J.Mo, Jordan discussed taking a two-year pause and finding more control over his working life. Photography and design offered room to develop his own ideas, alongside the modeling career that first brought him international attention.
