Ludwig Wilsdorff

A Munich discovery with a signature beauty mark, dark hair, and a career shaped by close creative relationships, from Dior menswear to fine jewelry.

Ludwig Wilsdorff is a German model from Munich whose dark hair and beauty mark above the lip became recognizable features of Kim Jones’s Dior menswear. He appeared in the house’s pre-fall 2019 campaign, photographed by Steven Meisel, beginning a sustained relationship across advertising and the runway.

In Vogue’s 2019 Diary of a Model film, Ludwig recalled being scouted while shopping with his mother at sixteen and a half, then waiting four months to call. By the filming, he was working exclusively for Dior and valued getting to know its studio team. “It’s a really good way to step into the industry, I’d say.”

That early association developed into a broader career in fashion and jewelry. In 2022, Ludwig joined Anja Rubik for Boucheron’s Icons campaign, giving him a prominent role in the jeweler’s brand imagery. His editorial work includes a spring 2022 cover of How to Spend It, where he shared the frame with Memphis Milano furniture, and an Amalfi Coast story for Numéro Homme.

These assignments made his individual features the connecting thread across very different photographic settings.

A more personal portrait emerged through his friendship with photographer Daniyel Lowden. Their pictures, featured in i-D in 2021, recorded everyday moments such as brushing his teeth and waking up in a T-shirt.

“He’s the extrovert in the room that takes any attention off me,” Lowden said. The photographs document a friendship that began at a London go-see in 2018 and grew through days spent walking and taking pictures together.
