Hao Yunxiang
Hao Yunxiang is a Chinese model from Beijing whose international career gained momentum with the winter 2011 cover of GQ Style China. Photographed by Kai Z. Feng, the cover helped introduce him to an audience beyond China, preceding runway appearances and advertising for Dior Homme.
By February 2012, Hao was attracting attention in New York as well as Milan. In a GQ go-see feature, Richard Blandino singled him out after seeing him at the J.Crew and Todd Snyder presentations. That season also brought runway bookings for Billy Reid and Dolce & Gabbana, placing Hao among the Chinese men gaining visibility on the international fashion circuit.
Dior Homme supplied an important early advertising credit. Karl Lagerfeld photographed him alongside Daisuke Ueda and Nan Fulong for the house’s fall-winter 2012 campaign. The booking established a luxury-fashion foundation early in his career, while subsequent magazine assignments developed his identity beyond the runway.
In 2015, Hao joined the advertising cast for Balmain’s collaboration with H&M, appearing alongside Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, and Dudley O’Shaughnessy. He also modeled the collaboration’s menswear, becoming one of the recognizable male faces of a collection that brought Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain to a broad international audience.
Magazine work has remained a consistent thread. Hao appeared on the winter 2017 cover of Glass Men and continued his relationship with GQ China, including a January 2019 editorial photographed in London. His career connects the growing international visibility of Chinese male models in the early 2010s with an established place in menswear advertising and editorial photography.
