Coach celebrates its 85th anniversary with a spring 2027 collection that raises an unusual question: what exactly is the Coach man selling? Creative director Stuart Vevers dissects typical archetypes, delivering slim suits, inside-out trenches, cropped leather tops, and party clothes that suggest the eclectic reasoning of a generation willing to try almost anything once.
However, the wardrobe feels secondary to the young, softly androgynous figure inhabiting it. Bare chests, slouchy trousers, sequins, and birthday hats change, while the bags remain conspicuous, including the new Turnlock Tote and reworked Brooklyn and Tabby styles.
It’s an intriguing reversal of traditional menswear, where clothes define a particular man. At Coach, the man increasingly functions as an accessory himself, lending youth and cultural currency to the leather goods at the heart of the House. Perhaps Coach operates not from the idea of how a man should dress, but from the disposition of the person carrying its bag.
