Anders Hayward

Anders Hayward is a British model, actor, and movement director from south-east London. Dance preceded his fashion career. He began dancing as a child, studied at the BRIT School, and continued his training at London Contemporary Dance School. By 2012, he was appearing in Topman’s fall-winter advertising, beginning a modeling career that would develop alongside his work as a performer.

His fashion portfolio includes campaigns for Burberry, Aquascutum, and Belstaff, alongside repeated bookings for H&M. Dance became a professional contribution beyond his own modeling, leading to choreography and movement direction for other performers. For Wallpaper’s September 2017 menswear shoot, he directed models with different levels of dance experience, adapting their movements to the clothes and set. “I’m interested in designers that create clothes for characters,” he told Wallpaper.

That interest in character also informed his acting. Discussing Scott Graham’s film Run in a feature for The Last Magazine, Anders connected his approach to the character-based dance work that had shaped his training. His screen career includes the comedy-drama Gap Year and roles in Guilt and Life After Life, while stage work includes Adults opposite Conleth Hill. Across these disciplines, movement has remained both his training and a tool for developing a character, whether he is performing himself or directing someone else.
