Gucci’s spring-summer 2027 collection approaches heritage through accumulation. As Demna’s first full expression for the House, the show opens with a vintage inclination. Cropped trousers, loafers, rugby shirts, and classic Italian sportswear borrow from an existing vocabulary, forming the working inventory.
As “The Store Show” progresses, a second identity arises. Puff-shaped bombers, slouchy denim, severe grooming, and aggressive hardware recall the outsider vocabulary that first established Demna.
Ideas are layered. Familiar Gucci dress codes remain visible beneath Demna’s interventions. The oversized 3X belt, with its trio of Horsebits, is particularly difficult to ignore. The collection succeeds most when the clothes carry the idea; elsewhere, ambitious styling works overtime to turn disparate references into a distinct new language. The result is a collection rich in tension, capturing a designer and a heritage brand still in transition.
