Tom Ford Connects with WSJ, Talks Beauty & ‘Nocturnal Animals’

Promoting his second film, Nocturnal Animals, Tom Ford puts on his director’s hat and connects with WSJ magazine. Missing no words about his vision, Ford exclaims, “I want all of the actors to be beautiful. I’m sorry—it’s a movie. It’s a moo-vie. I don’t want reality.”

Sharing more about the movie, which stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams, the designer addresses critics. Ford confides, “In some of the meaner reviews, they say it looks like a beauty commercial; it’s too polished; it’s because I’m a fashion designer.”

However, Ford doesn’t take any offense. He offers that “Hitchcock spent way more time on the costumes for the women in his movies–there were costume trials, hair trials, makeup trials, eyebrow trials. He was obsessed with those things, as were a lot of directors then.” Read more on WSJ.com.
