Anwar Hadid
Anwar Hadid is an American model and musician who entered fashion as the youngest member of an already prominent modeling family. The son of former model Yolanda Hadid and property developer Mohamed Hadid, he joined his sisters Gigi and Bella at IMG Models in February 2016. Early appearances in Nylon and L’Uomo Vogue were followed by a June/July 2016 Teen Vogue cover, establishing a public career while he was still in school.
His first major advertising work placed him among a generation of models whose visibility extended beyond the runway. He appeared in HUGO’s spring-summer 2017 campaign and returned for the label’s Pitti Uomo imagery that year. Tommy Hilfiger and Zadig & Voltaire also booked him, while runway appearances brought him into the same professional circuit as his sisters.
Valentino became a significant continuing relationship. In 2019, Anwar joined Adut Akech as a face of the house’s Born in Roma fragrance launch. The two returned for subsequent chapters, including Born in Roma Green Stravaganza in 2024, making his association with the fragrance a recurring part of his modeling career.
Alongside those assignments, Anwar began making products of his own. He launched the unisex jewelry label Martyre with musician Yoni Laham in 2019. In a W interview that year, he described an instinctive approach to dressing and an interest in secondhand clothes, singling out a pair of Comme des Garçons trousers from 2001 among his prized possessions. Jewelry design developed from an existing personal interest, with the partners wearing their pieces as they refined the collection.
Music and design subsequently became more closely connected. Speaking to i-D in 2025, Anwar discussed his band HowVanish and Obsidian, the leather label he developed with Ty Stephano. He described modeling as an opportunity that helped him understand what he wanted to create himself. Dressing other musicians gave that ambition a practical purpose, bringing his experience in fashion into the community in which he made music.
