At the beginning of this month, Kanye West announced his collaboration with Louis Vuitton to produce a shoe line. Now, the LA Times reports that West is coming out with his own clothing line called Pastelle. It’s rumored that some of the pieces he sported during fashion week were from his line. If West’s personal style is any inkling of what a collection would look like, I think he should stick to his day job as a rapper. What do you think?

To me, he seems really contrived. He tries too hard to push the envelope or to cause buzz about himself. I’m surprised he teamed up with Louis Vuitton, so maybe they see something I don’t see.

He’s just going to replicate an already standard shoe, with maybe “amazing” detail. This bugs me.

That’s how I feel about most celebrities that venture into the fashion arena. Instead of a natural digression, it usually feels very forced and contrived as if they are taking the next step that is proscribed to them.
