Yves Saint Laurent - French Fashion House
Yves Saint Laurent or Saint Laurent is a French fashion house. The label was founded in 1961 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. Headquartered in Paris, France, the French brand is one of the world's top luxury labels. Laurent contributed to the popularity of safari jackets and the beatnik aesthetic. In a modern context, YSL was reimagined, beginning with the 1997 appointment of Hedi Slimane.
The designer relaunched YSL Rive Gauche Homme, before leaving the label two years later to star Dior Homme. After Tom Ford's glamorous tenure between 1999 and 2004, designer Stefano Pilati married Yves Saint Laurent's tailored DNA with a relaxed approach to menswear.
Replacing Pilati in 2012, Slimane returned to the label and rebranded it Saint Laurent. Bringing back a skinny aesthetic, Slimane re-popularized a lean rock 'n' roll inspired aesthetic. Slimane departed the French fashion house in 2016 and was replaced by Anthony Vaccarello.
