Jil Sander
Jil Sander is a German brand, which was founded in 1968 as the namesake label of designer, Jil Sander. However, Jil Sander’s first womenswear collection didn’t launch until 1973. Menswear was added to the label in 1997. Shortly after in 1999, Prada Group purchased 75% of the company. Sander left the brand months later, returning briefly in 2003. Milan Vukmirovic served as creative director in the interim.
Belgian designer Raf Simons became creative director in 2005, putting Jil Sander on the modern map for labels to watch. In 2006, Change Capital Partners LLP purchased Prada Group’s shares in Jil Sander, before selling to Onward Holdings Co. Ltd. in 2008. By 2012, Simons left his post as creative director, eying a pivotal role at Dior. Sander returned to hher label in the interim. Finally, Rodolfo Paglialunga joined the fashion house as creative director in 2014, before departing in 2017.
