David Yurman

David Yurman was established in New York in 1980 by David and Sybil Yurman. Their backgrounds in sculpture and painting shaped a jewelry business built around form, texture, and the relationship between materials. Sybil’s role as co-creator was integral to the company from its beginning.

The Cable bracelet, introduced in 1982, gave the house its defining motif. Twisted metal brought a sculptor’s treatment of line into a piece that could be worn every day. Cable became a recurring idea across the collections, providing a recognizable structure that could change in scale and material.

The men’s jewelry develops that interest in surface and construction. Chains and sculpted rings sit alongside bracelets made with beads or cord, offering different ways to incorporate jewelry into a wardrobe. The designs make room for a single personal object as well as a layered combination, with texture giving the pieces much of their character.

David and Sybil’s son, Evan Yurman, joined the company in 2003 and became a key creative figure in its men’s collections. His work extended the family’s artistic approach into new materials and forms.
