When Pharrell Williams first introduced the Virginia Vario Flat Earther, the shoe pushed back against prevailing footwear trends. At a moment dominated by technical runners and oversized soles, the silhouette drew from the Adidas Yoga Vario, a little-known 2004 model rooted in flexibility and movement.

Now, Adidas Originals and Pharrell revisit the concept in black and blue suede. The richer texture sits over the Flat Earther’s stripped-back shape. The result arrives somewhere between a driving shoe, a slipper, and a fashion sneaker. That ambiguity has always been part of the appeal. Through his Virginia creative platform, Pharrell continues to position footwear as an extension of a broader world where memory, imagination, and design overlap.

The new suede editions soften the shoe’s appearance while highlighting the magnetic closure system, leather Three Stripes, and sculptural rubber outsole. Styled with tailoring in the campaign imagery, the Flat Earther sits apart from athletic conventions. It proposes a different relationship with footwear, one focused on curiosity and familiar Adidas references seen from a new angle.

The same mid-2000s adidas archive instinct runs through Kith’s Messi collaboration with adidas Football, which revisits his number 19 Barcelona years and brings back the COPA Mundial alongside it.
