Paul Hameline
Paul Hameline is a French model, artist, and curator whose fashion career grew out of the same Paris friendships that informed his parties and independent publishing. His association with Vetements made him a recognizable figure in the label’s early years, while his own projects gave him a role in making images as well as appearing in them.
Born and raised in Paris, Paul was scouted in 2014 while withdrawing money from an ATM on his way to an exam. He had declined earlier approaches, but an agent from Tomorrow Is Another Day persuaded him to reconsider. “She seemed cool, so I said I’d give it a try,” he recalled in a 2016 interview with Vogue. His friendship with stylist Lotta Volkova developed through organizing parties, connecting his social life with the circle around Vetements.
Paul’s first runway show was for Maison Margiela, followed by appearances for Vetements and Prada. Speaking to W in 2016, he explained, “I already think of modeling as acting.” He was selective about collaborators and clothes, treating his own response to a team as part of the finished photograph. His creative work also included prints for Ann Demeulemeester’s fall-winter 2015 menswear collection and acting in Like Cattle Towards Glow and Francofonia.
In 2016, Paul launched Rave New World, a limited-edition zine bringing together work by friends including Collier Schorr and Willy Vanderperre. Collage and the circulation of images became recurring interests. He later curated Happy Accidents at Galerie Sultana in 2024, bringing artists and writers into a group exhibition, and contributed cultural dispatches to Plaster.
Modeling continued alongside those projects. Paul appeared in Ferragamo’s fall-winter 2023 campaign, photographed by Tyler Mitchell, and fronted Still Kelly’s Collection 2 campaign for Frank Lebon in 2025. His career links fashion photography to a broader practice of selecting, arranging, and responding to images.
