Gucci makes a play for diversity with its latest advertising. The Italian fashion house enlists an all-black cast for its new pre-fall 2017 campaign. The outing features models Keiron Caynes, Alton Mason, and Bakay Diaby, alongside street cast designers.
Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele references the exhibit, Made You Look for the season. The exhibition, which was housed at the Photographer’s Gallery in London explored black masculinity in various forms. One artist that stood out was none other than Malick Sidibé.
The artist’s body of work is largely recognized for his portraits, which documented the nightlight in West Africa’s Bamako, Mali. Celebrating the sixties music movement, Northern Soul, Gucci stages a grand dance party at London’s Mildmay Club. Glen Luchford photographs the vibrant outing.
