Strellson

Strellson was founded in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, in 1984 by Jochen Holy and Uwe Holy, former owners of Hugo Boss. The business grew from the coat manufacturer Friedrich Straehl & Co., giving the new label an industrial foundation in men’s outerwear. Tailoring soon became central to its identity.

Suits and separate jackets established Strellson’s place in the working wardrobe, while the collection gradually extended into casual clothing. The brand approached these categories as parts of the same life, accommodating a man’s movement between the office and time away from it. Its Swiss origins supplied a recognizable point of reference as the business expanded internationally.

The Swiss Cross Jacket marked an important shift in 2003. Made using old Swiss military blankets, the limited-edition parka brought a direct connection between national heritage and practical clothing. Its success helped establish a sportswear direction alongside the brand’s tailoring.

Strellson forms part of the Holy Fashion Group, whose portfolio also includes JOOP! and windsor. The label has continued to develop an urban wardrobe in which outerwear and knitwear share space with suits. Its history illustrates how a tailoring business can broaden its range while keeping the needs of everyday menswear at its center.
