Following this week’s menswear show for Gucci, WWD confirms that Alessandro Michele has been named creative director of the Italian label by Kering. The 42 year-old follows in the footsteps of Frida Giannini and will be tasked with bringing a modern vision to the fashion house. Gucci president and chief executive officer Marco Bizzarri shares that Michele’s “talent and his knowledge of the company and the design teams in place will for sure allow him to move quickly and seamlessly in implementing his new creative direction for the collections and the brand.”
