AMIRI was founded in Los Angeles in 2014 by Mike Amiri. Before launching the label, the designer made one-off stage clothes for musicians, developing a practice in which embellishment and deliberate wear could give a garment its identity. The brand brought that experience into luxury menswear, with California music culture supplying an enduring point of reference.

Distressed denim became an early signature. Ripped jeans, leather details, and hand-worked finishes connected the collection to the clothes of rock performers, while the price and construction placed them within designer fashion. An initial capsule for Los Angeles retailer Maxfield introduced a wardrobe whose appeal depended on making visibly casual clothes feel exceptional.

The collections subsequently expanded beyond that original uniform. Knitwear and sneakers broadened the casual offer, while tailoring developed a more dressed-up interpretation of Los Angeles life. Hollywood hotels, nightlife, and the city’s creative communities supplied settings in which a suit could belong beside denim and an embroidered shirt.

Italian fashion group OTB took a minority stake in 2019, and AMIRI opened its Rodeo Drive flagship in 2020. International stores and Paris runway presentations extended the house’s reach while Los Angeles remained its creative center. Its place in menswear connects the aspiration of luxury fashion with clothing associated with performance, youth culture, and the imagined freedom of California.
