L.B.M. 1911

L.B.M. 1911 was introduced in 2005 by Giovanni Bianchi as a new expression of Lubiam’s tailoring expertise. The number in its name refers to the parent company’s origins, when Luigi Bianchi established his business in Mantua in 1911. The label belongs to that family history, while pursuing a more informal approach to the jacket.

Its starting point was a change in construction and finish. Jackets were lightened and deconstructed, with garment dyeing and washing used to give tailored clothing a softer, lived-in character. The aim was to retain the knowledge of a tailoring business while changing how the finished garment felt and could be worn.

That approach makes the separate jacket central to the wardrobe. It can work with trousers chosen independently, taking on the ease of casual clothing while retaining a shaped silhouette. Texture and color help define the result, making the treatment of fabric as important as the initial cut.

Under Giovanni Bianchi’s direction, L.B.M. 1911 has expanded its offer into outerwear and other wardrobe pieces. Its lapel pin provides a small identifying detail, but the label’s character comes from the clothes themselves. Based in Mantua, it connects a manufacturing tradition to the practical question of how tailoring fits into a less formal daily life.
