Gucci’s GucciCore Campaign Finds Its New York Crowd

Rush hour gets a selective dress code as Peter Funch photographs Gucci’s GucciCore campaign on the streets of New York.

A business suit has plenty of company on a New York sidewalk. In Gucci’s GucciCore campaign, it shares the crossing with faded denim and leather, each wearer apparently headed toward a different type of day. Peter Funch photographs the collection in street scenes where passing bodies interrupt the view and yellow taxis supply the backdrop. The photographs look like chance encounters, though the concentration of Gucci suggests a very selective rush hour.

First shown in Times Square in May, GucciCore proposes a foundation for the House’s wardrobe, and the menswear gives that idea a useful breadth. A black suit worn with a white shirt and tie represents one end of the working week; an olive jacket over an open-neck shirt loosens the terms. A belted trench and a leather blouson offer other ways into the same wardrobe, with bags slung across the body or held at the hip.

The interest is in how little these men resemble a coordinated group. Even surrounded by conspicuous glamour, the quieter clothes hold their place. Gucci’s essentials allow for the man who wants to enter a room quietly as well as the one who expects to be noticed.

Gucci’s fall-winter 2026 eyewear campaign also explored dressing as an exercise in personality, with Samuel Watson photographed by Mark Seliger.
