J.Crew and Barbour approach their latest collaboration as a simple exchange of icons. Each brand reworks one of the other’s signature jackets, pairing J.Crew’s American prep with Barbour’s English country codes. J.Crew takes on the Beaufort, cutting the waxed cotton jacket in vivid Apple Green with a hunter green corduroy collar, tartan lining, and apple lapel pin.

Barbour answers with J.Crew’s Barn Jacket, a staple since 1986, rendered in Black Watch plaid waxed cotton with a cognac corduroy collar and English spaniel pin. The Barn Jacket looks as though it could have been pulled from an obscure Barbour archive, while the Beaufort gets the irreverent color that has long animated J.Crew prep.

Styled with chambray, a loosened tie, jeans, and loafers, the accompanying imagery pushes the shared vocabulary further, presenting two outdoor standards as clothes for a man whose idea of country dressing is as likely to lead downtown as into a field.
