For more than a century, J. Press has outfitted American Ivy in rugby shirts, cricket sweaters, and flat-front chinos. The spring-summer 2026 collaboration with Alex Mill keeps that vocabulary and loosens the grip.

Rugby shirts arrive in saturated collegiate stripes, worn with washed denim and trailing D-ring belts. Cable-knit cricket sweaters keep their traditional tipping and heft, paired now with shorts or softened shirting. The grosgrain belt, once a neat finishing touch, hangs long and slightly off-center.

Alex Mill brings a downtown sensibility to J. Press staples, widening proportions and softening the formality. Chinos open up, knits relax, and the palette draws from old team kits in greens, blues, and warm oranges that recall postwar campus athletics.

The continuity remains, though the pacing has changed. Where traditional Ivy lines up for the class photo, this collaboration has wandered off campus.

The same relaxed proportion shows up across Alex Mill’s take on spring 2026 layering.
