Marco de Vincenzo
Marco de Vincenzo is an Italian fashion designer whose work makes color and surface active parts of a garment’s construction. His career developed through accessories at Fendi and a namesake ready-to-wear label before he took creative leadership at Etro. Across those settings, he has been drawn to the moment when a material changes a recognizable form.
Born in Messina, de Vincenzo moved to Rome at eighteen to study at the Istituto Europeo di Design. He joined Fendi’s accessories studio after graduating, beginning a long association with leather goods. The experience gave him a close knowledge of product development, alongside an interest in the optical effects a surface can produce. In 2009, he launched his own label and won the Who Is On Next? competition organized by Altaroma and Vogue Italia.
LVMH invested in his label in 2014. A different responsibility followed in 2022, when Etro appointed him creative director across men’s, women’s and home collections. His first women’s show was for spring-summer 2023. Working beyond the founding family, he approached the house’s prints and textile heritage as material for reinterpretation. He departed Etro in March 2026 after nearly four years.
In an Artribune interview published alongside his departure, de Vincenzo described a method grounded in retrieving and interpreting existing ideas. “Recovering does not mean copying, but transforming,” he said, translated from Italian. That approach connects his work on a single object with the wider image of a collection. His clothes invite a second look at the apparently decorative, asking how a change in texture or color can alter the shape the viewer perceives.
