Kim Jones
Kim Jones studied graphics and photography at Camberwell School of Art before enrolling on the MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, graduating in menswear in 2002.
The defining apprenticeship came under Louise Wilson, the late MA director whose hand shaped a generation of British menswear and gave Jones the sportswear-and-tailoring vocabulary he took into the industry. He launched his eponymous label in 2003 alongside capsules for Umbro, Topman, Mulberry, Alexander McQueen and Hugo Boss.
The method has stayed consistent since, sportswear cuts spliced into Savile Row tailoring and technical outerwear, with a travel-coded knit and leather-goods sensibility running underneath.
In 2008, Jones became creative director of Dunhill, where he stayed for three years and took the British Fashion Awards menswear honor in 2009, having first won it in 2006.
LVMH named him style director of Louis Vuitton menswear in 2011, replacing Paul Helbers, and the seven-year tenure that followed spliced safari parkas, monogrammed leather goods and shearling-collared blousons onto sharp tailoring, with cashmere knits and brogue derbies reimagined for a client who traveled.
Against the post-Helmut Lang minimalism then defining men’s runways and the heritage propriety of Hedi Slimane’s Dior Homme, Jones argued for a third position, formalized by the fall-winter 2017 Louis Vuitton and Supreme collaboration of box-logo hoodies, monogrammed trunks and skate decks. He showed his final Vuitton collection, fall-winter 2018, on January 18, 2018.
LVMH announced Jones as artistic director of Dior on March 19, 2018, replacing Kris Van Assche, and in 2020 he added Fendi as artistic director of haute couture, ready-to-wear and fur for women, succeeding Karl Lagerfeld.
The Dior debut for spring-summer 2019 reset the house in pale pinks and dove grays with the Bee logo, tailoring softened into unstructured saddle-shoulder jackets, the Saddle bag returned in nylon and toile de Jouy, and a Kaws sculpture stood at the center of the runway, while his first womenswear collection, the Fendi spring-summer 2021 haute couture, ran an Orlando-inflected procession of moulage satin, hand-beaded marbling and pearl-encrusted capes.
Jones stepped down at Fendi in October 2024 and left Dior Men in early 2025 after seven years, a body of work whose collaborations with Jordan Brand, Daniel Arsham and Shawn Stussy framed the larger argument of his career, that the streetwear and tailoring vocabularies belong to one wardrobe.
