Vladimir Ivanov

Vladimir Ivanov is a Russian-American model known for his work with Calvin Klein and a fashion image that combines an athletic build with fine features. Born in Kyrgyzstan, he began his modeling career through JE Model Management in San Francisco before moving into international advertising and menswear editorials. His brother Andrey also worked as a model.

Calvin Klein Jeans’ spring 2009 campaign brought Vladimir an early major booking. Photographed by Steven Meisel, the campaign placed him within the label’s provocative tradition of denim advertising. His relationship with Calvin Klein extended beyond that season into swimwear and subsequent denim work, including the spring 2012 Indigos lookbook. Repeated appearances made the American label a defining part of his portfolio.

European fashion offered a different setting for his appeal. Vladimir joined D&G’s fall 2010 advertising cast and appeared on runways including Bottega Veneta and Dsquared2. His advertising work also encompassed Lacoste and Trussardi, bringing his image into both sportswear and Italian menswear. In 2013, he returned to his professional roots for a Fashionisto story celebrating JE Model’s tenth anniversary, appearing alongside other leading faces from the San Francisco agency.

Magazine work gave Vladimir room to move beyond the physical directness of his early advertising. A 2013 GQ Style Korea editorial presented him as a flamboyant gentleman, while GQ Australia cast him in a 1960s-inspired story the following year. These roles drew on the same physical confidence as his denim work, but gave it a more dressed-up character.

His association with GQ continued through the decade. After appearing in a 1950s-inspired group story for GQ Style Russia in 2016, Vladimir returned for a spring 2017 editorial in GQ Russia. The fourteen-look feature placed him at the center of the season’s designer menswear, an individual portrait following years of campaign ensembles and editorial casts.
