Defined cheekbones and curly hair distinguish the French model, whose career connects international menswear with filmmaking.

Vincent LaCrocq is a French model, filmmaker, and cinematographer whose career spans the runway and the work of creating images. His defined cheekbones and curly hair became recognizable in international menswear, while his partnership with Kristell Chenut developed into the directing duo Venkay.

Raised in Bagnolet, outside Paris, Vincent found an unexpected route into fashion through skateboarding. In a 2017 interview with Mr Porter, he recalled being approached by Hedi Slimane in a skate shop in 2001, after the designer had seen him skating nearby.

Slimane invited him to try out for his first Dior Homme show. Vincent did not make the final cast, but photographs from the fittings marked an early connection with the designer’s world. He signed with Next Management in 2003 and began walking for houses including Prada and Burberry.

Editorial work with Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia followed in 2005. Advertising for Louis Vuitton and Missoni helped establish his place in luxury menswear, alongside a wider career in magazines and commercial fashion. His modeling continued as filmmaking became a second profession, with projects such as Mango’s winter 2025 edit placing him in the everyday wardrobe of a broader audience.

New York became an important setting for his work behind the camera. Vincent and Kristell’s creative partnership took shape around Hurricane Sandy in 2012, eventually becoming Venkay. Their films encompass narrative shorts and commissions for fashion and hospitality clients, with Vincent also working as director of photography. Their short Vortex, produced by Bizibi, follows a young man’s return to the home he fled as a teenager.

The two sides of his career met directly in Zara’s 2020 “In Front Of” project. While Vincent and Kristell were in Bali during lockdown, Zara approached him as a regular modeling collaborator and asked them to document their experience in photographs and film. Working with limited equipment, they made a personal travel journal. The commission gave Vincent a role on both sides of the image, connecting the relationships built through modeling with the filmmaking practice he had developed alongside it.
