Peter Bruder

Peter Bruder is a German model from Frankfurt whose career began with an unexpected interruption to university life. European runway work brought him into fashion in 2009, followed by a magazine career encompassing experimental menswear imagery and classic men’s style.

He was studying law when a scout approached him outside his university. In a 2010 interview with The Fashionisto, Peter explained that his shared flat had no internet connection, so he regularly sat outside the university to get online. Initially skeptical of the offer, he agreed to try modeling after an exchange of emails. He started in June 2009, with Costume National, Burberry, and Trussardi all on his first day’s schedule. He remembered the experience as an exhilarating shock, with nerves affecting his walk.

Fashion itself was a new education. Peter recalled knowing little about brands before entering the profession, then developing a more critical interest as he worked. Photography and image editing were already personal interests. A shoot for Numéro Homme appealed to him for its film-like direction and the chance to work alongside his roommate, giving an unfamiliar profession a social connection from the outset.

His early runway seasons included Prada and Yves Saint Laurent, followed by appearances for designers such as Raf Simons and Alexander McQueen. Magazine work extended that range, with credits in Arena Homme +, Dazed & Confused, and Wonderland.

Later assignments placed him in a more traditional menswear setting. For a 2018 watches story in GQ Germany, Peter worked with photographer Markus Jans and stylist Clark Parkin. The booking forms another chapter in a portfolio that spans the European show circuit and men’s fashion publishing.
