George Alsford
George Alsford is a British model who was studying geology at the University of Brighton when a television documentary took his life in an unexpected direction. Selected to travel through Africa, he lived with local communities and tried their jobs on their wages. The programme brought him to the attention of Select Model Management, opening a career in fashion around 2013.
Recounting that transition in a 2019 interview with DA MAN, George remembered his first major campaign, Pepe Jeans with Cara Delevingne, as an introduction to the industry and to his co-star’s fame. He returned to the brand for further campaigns. He also credited working relationships with sustaining his career. “I have always worked from how I interact with clients and the team in person,” he said.
His personal wardrobe had a similarly direct description. George liked tailored suits and well-kept shoes, alongside retro loungewear, summing up the combination as “suits and tracksuits.” It was an interest in dressing that extended beyond the clothes selected for his photographs.
Giorgio Armani’s fall 2014 campaign marked an early luxury booking, with George appearing in both menswear and eyewear imagery. His editorial work included British GQ and GQ France, while brands such as Belvest and Banana Republic made him a recurring face of menswear advertising and catalogues.
Later work continued those relationships between tailoring and character. George appeared in John Varvatos’ fall 2024 imagery and the Wax London fall 2025 campaign, returning to British clothing in a story built around family and memory. His association with Giorgio Armani also continued on the runway, more than a decade after his first advertising for the house.
