Charlie Westerberg

An international modeling career informed by Swedish punk roots and a maker’s curiosity about how clothes come together.

Charlie Westerberg is a Swedish model whose fashion background combines an early Prada exclusive with a personal interest in punk and making clothes. His career connects the international runway with Scandinavian brands, moving between experimental fashion publishing and everyday menswear.

Charlie began modeling at fifteen. In a 2010 interview with The Fashionisto, he reflected on a career that had already included a 2008 Prada exclusive and an early shoot with Hedi Slimane. Work for Barneys and Topman followed, while school remained a priority around which he fitted castings. He valued the friendships and travel that modeling made possible, but also spoke candidly about the fatigue of being continually judged.

His own approach to clothes had roots outside the casting room. In a later installment of the interview, Charlie traced his style to discovering Swedish punk at fourteen, with leather and studs becoming part of his wardrobe. He made many of his own clothes and took a particular interest in the thinking behind a collection. For him, understanding what inspired a designer could be more compelling than the finished garments.

That interest accompanied a modeling career spanning different versions of menswear. His runway work included Kenzo and Perry Ellis, while editorials appeared in Numéro Homme and GQ Style Germany. Assignments for Tiger of Sweden placed him within the fashion industry of his home country, alongside work for international retailers.

Scandinavian menswear became an enduring strand of his portfolio. For Filippa K’s summer 2021 edit, Charlie modeled the label’s linen tailoring and casual separates. The work adds a quieter chapter to a career whose starting points included punk dressing and an influential European runway debut, with clothing remaining a subject of personal curiosity as well as professional work.
