Model, muse and friend, a common story amongst those who have been fortunate to meet Marcel Castenmiller is that he is truly beautiful inside and out. Often a source of inspiration, Marcel is a usual subject of his photographer friend Peter Zachary Voelker. Late last year, work from the duo was published in Hungarian magazine The Room.

Peter recalls how he met Marcel, “Meeting Marcel was kind of interesting, but not that interesting…Upon me moving to NYC we had a lot of mutual friends and I had always heard a lot about him from my good friend Coley Brown. Eventually we crossed paths and that night I ended up at a club/bar with him and his girlfriend at the time. I already knew her, but not too well.. Anyway, it was just one of those things where we had a lot of mutual friends and eventually clicked…He pretty much knew every person I knew so it worked out well…Don’t know how it really progressed to be honest, but I’d say over the past two years we became closer and closer friends. Marcel is one of those people who you just enjoy being around. He can be in a grumpy mood or a good one, either way, I seem to always enjoy his presence and we find a way to have a good time, or we don’t, often times we just sit and complain to each other about pretty much everything…Regardless, Marcel is a good friend of mine and I really am happy that I’ve met him. As for my photos of him, I have never really considered it work together, but I suppose it could be in a way…We both take a lot of photos of each other, I’m sure I’m a little more heavy handed, but I’m also not nearly as interesting or beautiful as Marcel, ha. Suppose its primarily a documentation of us, our friendship, our antics and so forth. I take his photo a lot, he’s pretty much my favorite male to photograph, often times I look over my blog and notice that at least 50% of the photos are of him and the other 50% are pretty much my girlfriend. Been trying to take photos of the two of them together for awhile but some reason it hasn’t worked out very well. Something about them not being comfortable with me asking them to make out… I guess I can see where they are coming from, but from my point of view… it’d be perfect!”
