Sid Ellisdon

Sid Ellisdon is a British model from Slough who was discovered at a concert in north London. His entry into fashion began in the audience at a Late of the Pier gig, and a connection with music would later become a defining part of his work for John Varvatos.

In an early F Tape interview, preserved by The Fashion Spot, Sid recalled being scouted near Camden by Sherrill at Models 1. He was soon appearing in magazines including Wonderland and Arena Homme+, and photographed by Mark Pillai for the summer 2010 cover of 10 Men. That year, Mert & Marcus photographed him alongside Lara Stone for Calvin Klein Jeans’ fall-winter campaign, giving him an early international advertising credit.

His subsequent career developed through editorial photography and recurring commercial relationships. Runway appearances included Versace and Todd Snyder, while his advertising work ranged from Topman to Hublot. Magazines continued to provide another setting for his work, including sittings with Alasdair McLellan for W and British Vogue. His tall, lean frame and rockabilly-inflected look became especially well matched to John Varvatos, where he worked across runway shows, collection imagery, and campaigns.

For the label’s spring-summer 2016 campaign, Billy Kidd photographed Sid as Varvatos shifted from casting established musicians to putting a model at the center of its advertising. Sid returned for the Star USA spring-summer 2020 campaign, photographed by Mark Seliger alongside Luke Eisner. A career that began at a gig had found a recurring role in a house built around rock music and the men who wear its clothes.
