Sasha Profatilov gives the camera a hard stare, but his wardrobe is less interested in keeping a straight face. Photographed by David Vetiver for Sicky magazine, the model moves between severe black tailoring and clothes that put masculine composure to the test.
A Tom Ford tuxedo opens into a deep white plunge, its evening formality sharpened by black gloves and exposed skin. A shirt and tie suggest a working day until leopard-print shorts interrupt the dress code. The humor comes from keeping the upper half so correct.
Vetiver gives these changes of character room to register, moving from close portraits to full-length views in concrete surroundings. Sasha meets the extravagance with a cropped haircut and an expression that rarely softens, even as his poses become more theatrical. That resistance is the pleasure of the story. The clothes can flirt, flash, or make a joke; he never has to smile along.
