Saturdays NYC was founded in New York in 2009 by Colin Tunstall, Josh Rosen, and Morgan Collett. Originally known as Saturdays Surf NYC, the business began with a shop on Crosby Street in SoHo, bringing surfboards and clothing into a setting that also served coffee. The store offered a meeting place for people whose city lives included time in the water.

That combination became the foundation for a wider clothing label. Surfing informed its sense of ease, while New York supplied the practical demands of dressing through a working week. Shirts and trousers joined swimwear, allowing the wardrobe to extend beyond the beach or the surf shop.

The founders’ interests in photography and design also shaped the brand’s public identity. Its stores developed as social spaces, and Saturdays Magazine extended the conversation into print. The label’s expansion into Japan helped connect its New York beginnings with another audience for casual clothing and retail culture.

As Saturdays NYC, the brand has continued to develop a contemporary wardrobe around that meeting of city and coast. Knitwear and outerwear give its casual foundations a broader seasonal range.
