Ermanno Scervino

Ermanno Scervino was founded in Florence in 2000 by designer Ermanno Daelli and entrepreneur Toni Scervino. The name combines the designer’s first name with his business partner’s surname. Their house developed around Italian craftsmanship, bringing specialist work in tailoring and knitwear into the language of luxury ready-to-wear.

The men’s collections applied that approach to a wardrobe in which formal and casual clothing could meet. Tailored jackets appeared alongside textured knitwear and outerwear, with fabric treatments giving familiar garments a more individual character. The emphasis was on how a material could change the impression of a recognizable shape, from a suit to a weekend jacket.

The business established its headquarters in Bagno a Ripoli, near Florence, bringing creative and production expertise together. Its menswear also reached an international audience through campaigns photographed by Peter Lindbergh, with actors and models giving the clothes a setting beyond the runway. The advertising placed particular emphasis on the relationship between tailoring and the person wearing it.

The menswear project was interrupted during the pandemic. The wider Ermanno Scervino house continues to operate in womenswear. Its menswear archive records a Florentine interpretation of the luxury wardrobe, connecting workshop techniques with an interest in modern casual dress and expressive tailoring.
