Ben Hill

Ben Hill is an American model whose career connects the outdoors-minded image of American sportswear with European luxury menswear. Raised in Georgia, he worked as an industrial electrician before moving to New York to pursue acting. Modeling became a profession through his own persistence, eventually taking him from Abercrombie & Fitch to Giorgio Armani.

In a 2020 interview with The Cultural Omnivore, Ben traced that transition to his early years in New York. Watching his model roommates earn a living encouraged him to attend agency open calls while taking acting classes. Rejections preceded representation with Next, which sent him to Miami. There he met Bruce Weber, who booked him for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Ben also spoke about the quieter periods that followed early success, describing the importance of trusting his own judgment and finding agents whose advice he valued. Helping other models regain confidence taught him to apply the same encouragement to himself.

By 2009, Ben was appearing in Tommy Hilfiger’s advertising. His work expanded across different versions of the men’s wardrobe, from American casualwear to Italian tailoring. Nick Knight photographed him for Giorgio Armani’s spring-summer 2011 campaign, while Hugo Boss cast him in advertising photographed by Cédric Buchet that same season.

Magazine work gave Ben room to take on characters beyond the advertising image. He played a Parisian writer for Elle Men China and appeared in Details stories photographed by Milan Vukmirovic. His editorial portfolio also extends to Men’s Journal, including a Hamptons story for the July/August 2021 issue.

Tailoring has remained a recurring part of his work. In Proper Cloth’s winter 2023 collection imagery, Ben modeled suits and knitwear, continuing a career-long relationship with clothes designed for men’s everyday lives.
