Taylor Stitch approaches American menswear through clothes that improve with use. Founded in San Francisco in 2008 by Michael Maher, Barrett Purdum, and Michael Armenta, the label began with custom shirts before developing a broader wardrobe. Its identity sits between the working day and the weekend outdoors, with fit and fabric doing more of the talking than decoration.

Shirtmaking remains central to that identity. The founders learned construction from an established family of American shirtmakers, then applied those lessons to ready-to-wear. The Jack button-down represents that foundation, while pieces such as the Ojai chore jacket and Long Haul jacket extend the same practical outlook to outerwear. Workwear provides a vocabulary, but the clothes belong as readily on a city street as beside a weathered dock.

Texture gives Taylor Stitch much of its character. Corduroy and brushed flannel bring warmth to simple shapes; denim and canvas invite the marks of repeated wear. Alongside that attention to longevity, the brand has made responsible sourcing part of its stated mission, including the use of recycled and regenerative fibers. The underlying proposition is straightforward. Buy clothes for the life you lead, then give them time to become your own.
