Zara has turned fifty and decided to mark the occasion with a grand gesture. The brand invited fifty creators to each design a single piece, whether a garment, accessory, or object. The effect is a cross-section of today’s cultural heavyweights, assembled under one roof.

Zara Turns 50

Founded in 1975 in A Coruña, Zara grew from a local experiment in quick-turn clothing into one of the world’s defining retailers. Brand anniversaries usually bring glossy retrospectives or reissued bestsellers. Instead, Zara leaves the stage to its collaborators.

The roster reflects the brand’s reach across diverse fields. Photographers Paolo Roversi and Steven Meisel are present. Norman Foster, a man who shaped skylines, offers an architect’s eye.

Musicians like Robbie Williams and designers such as Ludovic de Saint Sernin show up. Each participant was asked to distill their practice into one piece, resulting in a collection of personal signatures.

Available October 6, 2025 at zara.com, the initiative also folds in philanthropy. Sales proceeds will be donated to fifty charities chosen by the contributors, and exhibitions in Paris and New York will bring the works to a wider public.

Talks and panels will accompany the displays, turning what could have been a straightforward product launch into a cultural happening. At fifty, Zara has chosen to stand less as monument and more as host.
