Men’s Cosmetic Surgery–Although, cosmetic surgery is often attributed to women and the pressures of the beauty industry, studies show that men have an increased interest when it comes to hitting their doctor’s office. Actor Patrick Dempsey, who is 48 years-old has admitted to using botox in the past as part of his beauty regime. Simon Cowell of American Idol fame has confessed to using the procedure as well. As noted by RealSelf, in today’s work environment, more years shown visibly on the face do not necessarily garner your more respect. San Francisco cosmetic surgeon Seth Matarasso expressed that working men in the Silicon Valley come in with the mindset, “Hey, I’m forty years old and I have to get in front of a board of fresh-faced kids. I can’t look like I have a wife and two-point-five kids and a mortgage.”

To see if more men are thinking like this, RealSelf turned to its community of doctors to gather data, discovering that “72% of doctors surveyed report an increase in male patients in the last year. And they’re younger, too! Doctors report that over 50% of new male patients who visit their practice are between the ages of 25 and 44. They’re looking for work above the neck… For the face, 50% of doctors say that facial rejuvenation (procedures to restore youthful look, such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery, and toning sagging skin) are the most popular among men…and below! For the body, the most popular procedure is CoolSculping — a nonsurgical fat removal technique that boasts lower cost and less downtime than liposuction.”
