J.Crew’s latest Vacation Shop tightens a formula the brand has owned for years. The edit captures model Jacques Saayman against a backdrop of palms, water, and sun-bleached wood in Irish linen shirts, striped poplins, and cotton tees, each paired with tailored shorts or relaxed trousers.

The fabrics run light. The silhouettes sit close to the body and still allow room. J.Crew’s man wears them with the looseness of someone who packed well and already knows where dinner is.

The scope stays tight. Knit polos and printed swim shorts round out the lineup, and every piece shares the same relaxed proportions. A linen shirt falls open at the chest. Tailored shorts hit above the knee. The whole thing recalls Slim Aarons territory, where leisure and good dressing are the same activity.

J.Crew has worked this ground for decades, and the Vacation Shop proves the brand can still pare a warm-weather wardrobe down to the pieces that hold up in August.

J.Crew’s workwear arm takes a similar approach to American staples in Wallace & Barnes’ vintage workwear collection.
