Approaching its 85th anniversary, Lacoste delivered a nostalgic nod to the past. For fall-winter 2018, creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista explored the brand’s archives from the 1980s and ’90s, drawing particular inspiration from Lacoste’s golf heritage and the Golf de Chantaco.
Rooted in a pre–World War II tree development project led by René Lacoste and Simone Thion de la Chaume, this history served as both a historical reference and a metaphor.
That legacy shaped a collection where Lacoste’s man reconnects with nature, surrounded by graphics of trees and golfers printed on polos and knitwear—postcard echoes of a distant era.
Rubber boots and casual sneakers punctuated a retro sportswear mood, while windbreakers, baggy denim, and oversized coats signaled a strong return to 80s fashion men would recognize: athletic, relaxed, and quietly defiant in its ease.
