Inviting us into their new world, Australian label Zoologie turns to history for inspiration. Drawn to the patterns, textures and shapes used by the Native American tribes of North America, Zoologie’s latest collection imagines the cultural shock of the settlers and pioneers of the new world. Blending a native understanding with western ideas, the collection transitions from washed denim and leather to wool and cottons. Here, solid understated pieces contrast greatly against more detailed garments that see the piecing together of fabrics to recreate the sun and moon. Also inspired by Hopi Kachina dolls, two prints represent the deer and eagle, while silks, viscose and soft modal present non-typical fabrics to craft. Ultimately, the result is a modest collection that charms with a simple motif and seasoned point of view.
