Tom Nicon
Tom Nicon was a French model whose career brought him to the runways of Milan and Paris and into Japan’s menswear magazines. Born in 1988, he became associated with Burberry during the late 2000s, appearing in its advertising and runway shows.
His relationship with the British house included the Thomas Burberry spring 2009 campaign, followed by work for Burberry Brit and Burberry Sport. Tom also walked for Versace and worked with Louis Vuitton and Hugo Boss, establishing an international career while still in his early twenties.
Japan formed an important part of his working life. His magazine appearances included Sense and Fudge, while Popeye’s June 2010 issue brought him together with photographer Junji Hata and fellow model Jono McNamara. The playful editorial offered another side of a portfolio that also included European designer shows and luxury advertising.
In 2010, Tom also sat for a portrait series with Cristina Capucci in Paris before traveling to Japan for further work. These quieter photographs joined the campaigns and magazine stories documenting his brief career.
Tom died in Milan on June 18, 2010, aged 22. In a tribute reported by British Vogue, Donatella Versace recalled working with him across several shows and described him as “a sweet boy.”
