Robbie Wadge
Robbie Wadge is an English model whose youthful features and wide-eyed expression made him a recognizable face in the menswear imagery of the late 2000s. His career developed across designer runways and accessible British fashion, with music becoming another outlet for his creativity.
From London, Robbie was already appearing in magazines including Dazed and i-D by 2008. He also appeared on the cover of HERO’s launch issue, establishing an early connection with a publication devoted to a new generation of male fashion imagery.
In a 2009 interview, Robbie admitted that he had known little about modeling before entering the industry. His first show seasons in Milan and Paris had exceeded his expectations, and he counted the experience as his biggest professional success to that point. He singled out his Wooyoungmi campaign photographs as a favorite, while describing life away from work in more ordinary terms, from swimming and football to walking his dog. Asked about a hidden talent, he offered beatboxing.
His youthful image found a natural setting in advertising for Paul Smith and Burberry’s Sport and Golf lines, alongside Prada lookbooks. By 2011, his runway work included Jil Sander and Versace, bringing him into collections with markedly different ideas of masculinity. The PS by Paul Smith fall 2014 lookbook continued his association with British menswear, while subsequent work for Calvin Klein Eyewear broadened his advertising portfolio.
As his career progressed, Robbie’s photographs took on a more rugged character. He fronted Barbour International’s spring 2020 campaign, bringing the face once associated with youthful tailoring into the label’s motorcycle-inspired world.
Music developed alongside that work. Recording under his own name, Robbie released “Mountains” in 2019 and Stages of Life in 2022. Singing and guitar joined the beatboxing he had mentioned as a young model, giving him a creative practice in which his own voice became the subject.
