Classic leading-man looks give the Swedish model a foothold in traditional menswear and a striking role in fashion's stranger worlds.

Alexander Wolff is a Swedish model from Borås whose blond hair and blue eyes have lent themselves to both classic menswear and more experimental fashion imagery. His photographs can suggest the composure of a traditional leading man, though some of his strongest work gives that image a stranger setting.

By spring 2010, Alexander was fronting Miharayasuhiro’s advertising, photographed by Horst Diekgerdes. The booking placed him within the Japanese designer’s imaginative world early in his international career. A fall 2010 Gucci lookbook presented another side of his appeal, with the emphasis on luxury menswear and a more conventional masculine ideal.

Advertising became a significant part of Alexander’s portfolio. He appeared alongside Lara Stone in ck Calvin Klein’s spring 2011 campaign, photographed by Mert & Marcus, and joined the cast of D&G’s fall 2011 campaign for Mario Testino. Moschino also cast him in its fall advertising that year. These bookings brought him into several different expressions of designer fashion, from Calvin Klein’s restraint to D&G’s exuberance.

Magazine work gave Alexander room to develop beyond those commercial images. His portfolio includes VMAN and GQ Japan, and he appeared on the inaugural cover of L’Officiel Hommes Korea in 2011, photographed by Rémi Lamandé. His runway work included Louis Vuitton and Dries Van Noten, alongside Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.

That capacity for transformation remained visible in his later editorials. For the September 2014 issue of Out, Alexander took on a futuristic character in photographs by Tetsu Kubota. The same season, Chuando & Frey photographed him for a Greek mythology-inspired story in L’Officiel Hommes Singapore. His classic features supplied a recognizable human center to these imagined worlds, making him as persuasive in a fashion fantasy as in a luxury lookbook.

Alexander’s career also extends into model representation. At 98 Mgmt in Gothenburg, he works as a model agent on the men’s board, adding another professional role to his experience in front of the camera.
